Nigel Salmon has lived and worked in the Southampton area for over 30 years and has been an enthusiastic amateur musician all his life.

Workshop-007Nigel is a Professional Member of the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers (N.A.M.I.R) Qualified as a Fellow of the Institute of Legal Executives in 1983 having started work in London in 1975. He is currently Honorary Legal Advisor to the British Double Reed Society ,a Professional Member the National Association of Musical Instrument Repairers and a member of the Clarinet and Saxophone Society of Great Britain.

Having come from an engineering background and being a keen clarinettist it was not long before he started to maintain his own instruments and formalise his knowledge and experience principally through the auspices of N.A.M.I.R

Nigel started trading as BrokenWind, specialising in Clarinet, Oboe, Flute, Bassoon and Saxophone repair and restoration in 2003, opening his new workshop facility in May 2007.

The business continues to expand as Nigel`s reputation grows by word of mouth and via contracted interest from both trade & retail outlets in the area.

Nigel also finds time to pursue his interest in music and develop as a performer, playing Bass Clarinet with Havant Symphony Orchestra and Salisbury Symphony Orchestra and having  performed two concertos for Basset Horn with Southern Pro-Musica under the Baton of Jonathan Willcox in the last few years. He also sings as a Bass with Portsmouth Choral Union.
