The instrument is not stripped down unless a specific defect is found in close inspection. All pads are checked for seating and set plus any damage. Spring detent is checked and adjusted if required. Tenon fit and condition is checked and the instrument has all major bearings externally lubricated. The Headjoint is checked and the position of the crown cork/baffle is checked and adjusted if required. The instrument is assembled and regulation is checked and adjusted throughout. The instrument is test played to ensure that all is working correctly before return.

Additional to the checkover service but where specific defects such as pad damage, bent or damaged key work etc. are found the instrument is partially stripped to facilitate repair. On reassembly parts are cleaned of old lubricant and re-lubricated internally. Tenon joints are checked and polished to finish. Minor dent repair would be covered on an intermediate Service Basis.
Additional to the intermediate service, normally the instrument is stripped but key stacks are not de-pinned. Pads are checked and cleaned .Steels are removed and cleaned as are respective Keytubes. All Key work is hand cleaned and re-polished to best finish. The Crown cork assembly is extracted .The cork is checked and re-lubricated if satisfactory, If damaged it is replaced. Head Body and foot are hand cleaned and polished to best finish.All parts are internally lubricated on reassembly. If required at a small extra charge the kicker and rebound felting is removed and replaced with new.Once reassembled the instrument is test played before return.
This is estimated on an individual basis and all estimates are approved by the customer before work commences. Specialist work includes repairs and restoration of wooden instrument bodies, manufacture and repair of damaged key work, crack repair, Tenon binding in silk or synthetics or recorking. metal work repairs in Nickel, Nickel Silver, Solid Silver and Gold.
